Wilmer Perkins

Wilmer Porter Perkins, 93, of Louisa County, passed away peacefully December 7, 2010 at the home of his family, Harry and Delmayne Tudy Carter, where he has resided for the past 8 years. He was born May 10, 1917 to Henry C. Perkins, Sr. and Mary Alice Watkins Perkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Evelyn Jackson Perkins, his brothers, Linwood Chug and Welford Perkins and his sister, Ruby Hopkins.
He was a devoted lifetime member of Macedonia United Methodist Church until his death. Wilmer was a saw miller and farmer, he was a strong man known for his hard work and his faith in God. He was well respected, a good neighbor and friend to all and he will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his devoted family; son, James P. Perkins Virginia of Ruckersville, and daughters, Nancy P. Harlow Henry Clay and Delmayne P. Carter Harry all of Louisa, his brothers, Henry C. Perkins, Jr. Ernelle of Louisa, Lewis Perkins Mary Emily of Staunton, his sisters, Louise P. Jackson of Charlottesville, Mildred Holt Garland of Louisa, Joyce Richardson of Louisa, his brother-in-law, O.T. Hopkins, his sister-in-law, Frances Perkins, his grandchildren who brought much joy to his life Tammy Perkins Cancela-Vaz Jaime of Manassas Anthony S. Carter Crystal of Louisa Angela C. Kennedy David of Louisa Ginger Perkins of Lynchburg his great-grandchildren who he loved very much Zachary and Patrick Carter of Louisa Jackson Caraline Callie and Caitlyn Kennedy of Louisa along with many nieces nephews and friends who were very special to him.
The family wishes to thank Dr. William Dandridge and his staff for their care through the years and the support and love of his church community family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Saturday December 11 2010 at Woodward Funeral Home where a funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday December 12 2010. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. The Rev. Linda Crabbs Rev. Marvin Towler and Rev. Clyde Nuckols will be officiating. Pallbearers are Harry Carter Henry Clay Harlow Anthony Carter Charles Jackson David Kennedy Clarence Carter Roy Poindexter and Donald Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Zachary and Patrick Carter Jackson Kennedy Calvin Harlow Davis Hodges O.T. Hopkins Jaime Cancela-VAZ Garland Holt and Joseph Brock.
