William Douglas Vaught

August 5, 1948-June 11, 2023

William Douglas Vaught (Bill) a dedicated servant of Jesus went home to be with the Lord on June 11, 2023.

Born August 5th, 1948, in Stotesbury, WV, he was the second youngest of 11 children. Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was awarded a Purple Heart.  He held many other occupations during his working years including security guard, police officer, truck driver, truck mechanic, and Custodian at the VA Hospital in Beckley WV.  When asked what mattered in his life, he would instantly say his relationship with Jesus and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Royal Darius Vaught and Gladys Lilly Vaught; A daughter Lisa R. Hall; a grandson Jordan C. Hansford, and all of his siblings except 1.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Doris L. Vaught of Louisa, VA; Children Melissa (John) Gray, David (April) Vaught, and Michael Hall.  Bill had 8 surviving grandchildren Tasha (Emily) Feudale, Catie (Richard) Webb, Kade (Chelsea) Dunham, Shannon Dunham, Brandon Vaught, Derek Hall, Andrea Hall, and Laken Hall.  He also loved his great-grandchildren Jaxon Webb, Aubrie Webb, Owen Feudale, Julian Vaught, Christian, Hezekiah, and Patrick with all his heart.  He was also survived by one brother James Vaught of Beckley WV and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Viewing and celebration of life at New Life Community Church in Louisa VA will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2023, with the viewing from 2:00pm to 4:00pm, and celebration of life service starting at 4:00pm.  This will be followed by graveside services at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Beckley WV on Monday June 19, 2023, at 1:00pm.
