Victoria Marshall Harris Massie, 88, of Louisa, died Sunday, March 23, 2008.
The widow of G. William Massie, she is survived by her son, George W. Massie Jr.; and daughter, Martha Brooke Massie; sister, Louise H. Massie; brothers, Fred N. Harris and S. Dick Harris; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The daughter of William Overton Harris and Mary Todd Harris, Vicky was born in Spotsylvania and grew up on the Harris family farm there.
She was a graduate from Mary Washington College in 1940 and then taught school on the Eastern Shore and in Louisa County. After earning a Master’s Degree in Library Science from William and Mary, she worked in the Portsmouth and Orange County libraries. For 20 years she was a librarian for Louisa County schools, in charge of the bookmobile, serving all the county elementary schools.
She was a long-time member of Goldmine Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School there for years and served in the Women’s Missionary Union. As a volunteer she also tutored adults, teaching them how to read.
A quiet, sweet woman, Vicky touched a lot of people. She loved to read and enjoyed time spent with friends and family. She weathered a lot of difficulties in her life with never a complaint.
The family will receive friends 6:30 until 8:30pm Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa.
A memorial service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, March 26, 2008, at Goldmine Baptist Church, 2039 Goldmine Rd., Louisa, Virginia, with burial at Kirk O’Cliff Church in Spotsylvania afterwards.
In lie of flowers, contributions may be made to Goldmine Baptist Church.

Dear Family of Victoria Massie,I have very good memories of Mrs. Massie, she contributed to my love of reading and made things very pleasantfor me whenever I was in her company. I want to express my sincere sympathy for the loss you are experiencing. You can be assured that there is hope for all who suffer during these times of grief. The Bible holds the promise of a time when there will be no more pain, from any source this can be found at Revelations 21:3, 4. What a wonderful hope for us all.
