Sherry Lynne Collier
Jul 21, 1978 – Dec 29, 2016
Sherry Lynne Collier, 38, died on Thursday, December 29, 2016 at Charlottesville Health and Rehabilitation Center.
She was the daughter of Deborah Thompson of Nelson County and the late Winston Collier. In addition to her mother she is survived by her brothers, Denny and Daniel Evans and special friends Nancy Kaplan, Constance Ellinger, and Wendy Smith.
Sherry had a zest for life that was infectious. She was always smiling even in the face of great adversity. Sherry was a graduate of Louisa County High School. She was an active advocate for persons with intellectual disabilities including testifying before a Senate budget hearing. Sherry was active in Special Olympics and particularly loved softball playing on a League of Their Own for several years.
Many thanks to all who have cared for Sherry her entire adult life including Louisa Healthcare Center (as it was known), ARC of the Piedmont, Community Living Services, Charlottesville Health and Rehab and the staff at Region Ten Community Services Board and Charlottesville Family Medicine all of whom have lovingly cared for her over the years. She was a great inspiration and will be missed by all.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Jude Catholic Church, Mineral.
Dear Debbie, We were so sorry to hear about Sherry Lynne`s death. That beautiful smile will be remembered forever. I remember Tina and Charlie fighting over who would get to push her chair. I will never forget her laughter and look of pure joy when they would race her around the yard. She was loved by so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Love, Betty and Jim Herndon
