He was a very big part of my childhood I can remember back to the trips to norton while on the way home we would stop by to visit and I would get rides on the tractor. As I got older I got to drive the whole we would cut fire would. Got to watch one of the best with a chainsaw and learn from him.shot my first gun with him and later got to field dress my first deer with. I’m sure there’s a lot of people that he taught and helped through his life as he was always there for you. I never felt like a kid around him just a friend. His memory will live on though the ones that knew him.
Rolland was the uncle that I didn’t get to see a lot of. His life was a success story that got him out of these hills (but not too far). He had a beautiful wife and children. I remember being told about how smart he was and how he could fix a Navy ship and make it run again. When I saw him he was always great to be around and you could tell he loved coming down to see his family. My mom always enjoyed his visits and I wish we could all go to Nancy’s and see my mom, Nancy, and Rolland.
Roland is a cousin of mine, I did not get to see him very often but had great respect for him. I was always told by our family how intelligent he was, and i’m sure it’t true, he worked for IBM as. an Engineer for many years!! I only wish we could have been together more. Rest In Peace dear cousin.
I would like to express my condolences on behalf of my family and my mom’s memory. Mr. Caldwell was a good man that helped me pave my future professional career path because of his belief in me and his ability to make me believe in myself. We were brought together on a baseball field, he as the Manager and myself and many other young men as his players, but he truly cared about us beyond the field. Fly high Mr. Caldwell.
