Richard Merchant III

January 25, 1983 – August 12, 2022

Richard “Richie” Merchant III was born on January 25, 1983. He departed this life on August 12, 2022 Richie, as he was fondly called, was preceded in death by his father Richard Merchant Jr. and Grand Parents Mary & Clarence White.

Richie was born in Washington D.C. and from the very beginning he was fighting to live. Despite being born very sick, with prayers to the Lord and his little will to survive, he made it through.

He attended school in D.C. and later moved to Coeburn Va., where he met the love of his life, Jessica. They married on June 16, 2002 and were blessed with 2 beautiful boys.

Richie always worked hard, and returned to school to pursue his degree. He was employed at New River Electrical Co. as a foreman, which bought him joy and satisfaction. He cared a lot about the crew he worked with, he shared many fond stories with his stepfather (who is an industrial electrician). His family and work crew were always at the forefront of his mind.

In his spare time, Richie loved adventure and his “toys”, as he referred to them. Whether it be his motorcycles, boats, muscle cars, drawing, tattoos or traveling. He was always on the hunt for the next adventure. He loved taking his boys to mud tractor shows, races, football games, trampoline basketball, go-karts, regular basketball. All these wonderful things will be missed by many. He leaves his family and friends with good examples of enduring love, hard work, seeking God, continuous education, and to NEVER stop pursuing your dreams.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, Wife Jessica Stone Merchant, Sons Dayton & Jordan Merchant of Pulaski, VA Mother, Mary (Jingle)Jackson of Stafford, VA Sisters Vanessa(Snoop)Morgan of Washington D.C. and Paris(Gary) Moreira of Johnson City, TN, Step brother Josh Thomas of Fred, VA, Brother in law Zack Stone of Pulaski, VA and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

” So, with you; Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” John 16:22
