
R. Jennings “Fish” Fisher, Jr.

Russell Jennings Fisher, Jr. born June 3, 1931 departed this life unexpectedly on Friday, December 27, 2013 at his home in Louisa. Jennings, also known as Papa is survived by his wife, Helen Zupp Fisher of 59 years, three sons: Billy, (Kellie); Ronnie, (Becky) of Louisa; and Brad of Montpelier. One daughter, Karen Casper, (Hugh) of Florida. Eight grandchildren: Kevin Fisher, (Jenny), Rhonda Payne (Caleb), Jenna Fisher, of Louisa; Kaitlyn Fisher of Louisa, Tyler Fisher of Montpelier; Barbara DiGiorgio (Dom), Amanda Casper, and Jordan Casper of Florida. Six great-grandchildren: Gio DiGiorgio, Alessia DiGiorgio, Caden Fisher, Cash Fisher, Lydia Payne, and Grant Payne. In addition, he is survived by one brother: George Fisher (Jane) of Gordonsville; and three sisters: Bonnie Ornduff of Ashland; Lyndall Fisher of Florida, and Hilda Gibson of Bumpass, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Ophelia Fisher, two sisters, Martha Marie Smart and Beth Lashley, and one grandson, Mark Alston Fisher. Jennings served in the United States Air Force, was a farmer at Burnley Farms, worked for Herndon Brothers Chevrolet, drove a school bus, a welder for Ray Sauer and retired as an insurance salesman from Home Beneficial Insurance Company. After his retirement, he loved delivering flowers for Louisa Florist. Jennings was an active member of the Louisa United Methodist Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir and served as a trustee. Other interests included singing with the Community Chorus, gardening, working outdoors, and a sports enthusiast. As part of his love for football, he ran the clock for the Louisa County High and Middle School football games. Most of all Jennings was a dedicated and loving husband and father and the greatest Papa to all. The visitation will be on December 30, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Louisa United Methodist Church followed by the Memorial Service at 3:00 p.m.
