Opal Mae Apperson, 73, of Mineral, passed away Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at her residence. Opal was born July 21, 1935 in Spotsylvania, to Freddie Lloyd and Arlene Brooks Lloyd.
Opal began her career as a teacher’s assistant at Mineral Elementary School then moved to Thomas Jefferson Elementary School where she retired after 24 years. She was a member of Bethel Christian Church in Spotsylvania.
Opal is survived by her children, Ronnie Apperson, June Vicors, and Angie Stanley, her brother, Danny Lloyd, her son-in-law Ralph Stanley, her grandchildren, Mark Apperson, Matt Apperson, Brittany Colvin, Jessica Stanley, David Young, and Kip Vicors, Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jesse Ray Apperson and her sister Barbara Deale.
A graveside service conducted by Pastor Greg Akers will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 18, 2008 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 2200 Old Ivy Road Suite 2, Charlottesville, Virginia 22903.

I only found out recently that your mom had passed. Was so sorry to hear it.I have been trying to locate June, we were close friends in school.
