Minnie Pearl Hairfield Franklin, 69, of Mineral; passed away peacefully at Martha Jefferson Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, November 19, 2012. She was born on February 4, 1943 to the late Luther Curtis Hairfield and Cora Woolfrey Glass of Mineral, VA.She is survived by her children; Paula Carpenter and her husband Don, John Franklin and his wife Elizabeth both of Lake Anna, Keith Franklin and his wife Pam of Mechanicsville, and James Franklin of Phoenix, Arizona; her thirteen grandchildren, Michael, Jonathan, Mikayla, Brandon, Timothy, Ashley, Adam, Christopher, Davis, Jack, Carter, Reiley, Cabell, and two great-granddaughters, Kiley and Shelby; all of whom she dearly loved. She is also survived by four sisters; Essie Gordon of Louisa, Mary Traynham and her husband Thomas of Spotsylvania, Doris Meeks of Louisa, and Nancy Richardson of Mineral, and a host of numerous nieces and nephews, including a special devoted niece Tina Hairfield Peyton.She was preceded in death by her life partner of 33 years, Vernon Pendergrass, three brothers, Harry Judd Hairfield, William Thomas Hairfield, Van Monroe Hairfield, and two sisters, Nora Louise Seay and Ann Elizabeth Glass.Minnie was a devoted partner, dedicated mother, sister, aunt, and fun loving grandmother.Funeral services will be held 1pm Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Woodward Funeral Home; with burial to follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral, VA. The family will receive friends 6-8pm Friday, November 23rd at Woodward Funeral Home.Memorial Donations may be made to Louisa County Education Foundation, Attn: Ava Pippen, P.O. Minnie was the sweetest most loving mother-in-law ever.
With love to my aunt Minnie, she used to make us toast with jelly and chocolate milk for breakfast before school. I have many fond memories of her. And to my cousins, I love you all, and will always remember the fun times we had growing up, playing with match box cars in the sand. My deepest sympathy for you and your loss.
