Mildred Maxine Payton, 78, of Mineral, Virginia, passed away, Sunday evening, November 29, 2009, at Louisa Healthcare Center.
Born in Crew, Virginia, July 21, 1931. she is preceded in death by her parents: Clayborn and Susie Gammon, her husband: James Earl Payton, sister Mary Ann, grandson: Hugh A. Payton, Jr, grandaughter: Teresa Gail Payton, and and one brother: Sammy Gammon.
Survivors include her children: Hugh A. Butch” Payton Sr. & wife Cook Gum Spring Peggy Hunley & her husband Jerry of Caroline Ronald E. “Mutt” Payton & wife Lorrie of Mineral Robin Boyd & her husband Wayne of Mineral 10 Grandchildren & 23 great- grandchildren 5 brothers: Richard Freeman & wife Dorothy Willard Freeman & wife Minna Mae of Louisa and Robert Lewis and Lee Gammon of Louisa a number of nieces and nephews.
She was a devoted member of Mineral Baptist Church.
A funeral service will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock at Mineral Baptist Church The Rev. Mike Durham will officiate.
Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Woodward Funeral Home Louisa is in charge of the arrangements.
