Melvin Monroe Harlow Mellie” 85 of Louisa passed away Tuesday September 1 2009. He was born in Louisa County son of Everett and Bessie White Harlow; he was a veteran of World War II having served in the U.S. Marine Corps; a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church and had been employed by Purcell Lumber Co for over 35 years; he enjoyed being outdoors was an avid gardener and a huge baseball fan.
Survivors include his former wife; Lucille Virginia Williams his son James Allen Harlow and his wife Shelby granddaughter Jessica Harlow; one sister Nellie Mae Harlow Smith all of Louisa VA; numerous nieces nephews and great nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by brothers; Thomas Harlow Jack Harlow and Harry Porter Harlow “Sam”; and sisters; Ellen Poindexter “Queen” and Edith Carter “Sis”.
Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Linda E. F. Crabbs 2:00 P.M. Friday September 4 2009 at Woodward Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday September 3 2009 at Woodward Funeral Home.
