Mattie Blanche Patsy” Carter of Mineral VA passed away Tuesday January 24 2012 at The Cedars Nursing Home in Charlottesville.
Patsy was born October 15 1920 in Louisa to the late Robert and Melissa Richardson; in addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Chancellor O. Carter; daughters Linda Humphries and Elizabeth “Ann” Short; a step-son Ozzie Carter; a granddaughter Sharon Groome; her sisters Mary Roberts Virginia “Pinky” Roberts Mildred “Millie” Marks and Lucille Rankin; and a brother James “Jimmy” Richardson.
Patsy is survived by her daughter; Irma B. Groome and her husband Bucky her son; Leighton “Barrett” Carter; a step-daughter June Huffman of Florida; a sister Edith Wyatt; seven grandchildren: Karen Shade Sandra Payne Kevin Acors Mark Acors Leighton Carter Jr. Joey Short and Melissa Howard; five great-grandchildren David Hicks Lauren Shade Brittany Short Trevor Carter and Cassidy Carter; and three great-great grandchildren; Katelyn Hicks Jacob Hicks and Carly Purvis.
Funeral services conducted by Pastor Linda Crabbs will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday January 27 2012 at Woodward Funeral Home Chapel Louisa VA. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. on Friday January 27th.
Serving as pallbearers are Carl Shade Matt Payne Teddy Webb Joey Short Leighton Carter Jr. David Hicks and Brad Howard.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in her name to Macedonia United Methodist Church; 17 Byrd Mill Road Louisa Virginia 23093.
