Marie “Ree” Perkins Bowers of Louisa, passed away peacefully on September 23, 2021.
Marie was born January 6, 1949 to the late Robert F. “Perk” Perkins, Jr. and Gladys Snider Perkins.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Joseph M. Bowers III; and daughter, Kellye Throckmorton and husband Michael; sisters Ann Carol Gatewood and husband Roger, Martha P. Williams; aunts Annis P. Mallory and Sylvia Perkins; seven nephews; four nieces; numerous cousins including a very special cousin Susan R. Hopkins; very special friends Joyce Bickley, Sharon Hart, and Mary Kennedy; also, Malachi and Tanner Russell, who were like grandchildren to her; and her beloved dogs Reese and Piper.
Marie served the public in many ways, working for C&P Telephone Company, Centel, Morton Foods, the Louisa County Administrator, and Louisa Flower Shop. She was a lifelong member of Louisa Baptist Church, serving as a church clerk and a lifelong member of the Louisa Vol. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary, serving as the Ladies Auxiliary President.
Funeral arrangements are private. A celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

We will surely miss Aunt Ree and I’m so glad for the memories I have from visits while I was attending VMI. She was a truly wonderful woman and had such a loving and faithful life. God has a wonderful angel added to His kingdom.
May Joe and Kellye and all of her family and friends be comforted by cherished memories and the knowledge that she is at peace with the Lord.
We will miss our beloved Ree who has brightened both our lives. We send our prayers and love to Joe, Kellye and all your family.

Joe, I was heartbroken to hear of Marie’s passing. She was kind to everyone she met and made an impact on so many lives. I will miss her dearly. My thoughts and prayers for comfort are with you and your family at this time.
We are so very shocked and sad to hear about Marie’ s passing. I always thought alot of her. May her family find peace in knowing she is now with the Lord.
Ree was one of a kind! She will be missed by everyone that knew her.
