Laura Mae Woods Baker passed away on January 7, 2016 at Henrico Doctors Hospital surrounded by her family. Mae was a retired seamstress, avid gardener and homemaker but most of all a Loving Mother.She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter H. Baker, Jr., her son, Walter H Baker, III, grandson, Michael Glynn Butler, granddaughter, Tammy L. Baker, Infant granddaughter and great granddaughter, Samantha. She was born in Lenoir, N.C. on March 18, 1920 to the late Robert A and Neva Church Woods and moved to Louisa in 1922.She is survived by her daughters, Becky Cavanaugh (John), Mary Ann Butler (Glynn), her son, James Robert “Punk” Baker (Debra), grandchildren, Lisa C. Peyton, Walter H. Baker, IV, James R. Baker, Jr., Kim Askew, Eric Baker and Amber Baker; great-grandchildren, Brandon and Blake Peyton, Ashley and Jessica Askew, Grayson and Austin Baker; two great-great grandchildren, her brother, John Woods (Barbara). her sisters, Ethel Dunkum, Hazel Johnson, Dorothy Badgett and Catherine Badgett and a special friend Maxine Shiflett.The family will receive friends from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, January 10, 2015 at Woodward Funeral Home Louisa, VAA funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, January 11, 2015 at the funeral home; with interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.
Our heart felt condolences go out to the family. May you find comfort in your time of mourning, joy in your time of reflecting on memories, and peace in the knowledge that Mrs. Baker is whole again and resting in her forever heavenly home. Love and prayers to all.
