Johnnie C. Barr of Mineral, VA was called home on February 1, 2015. He was born October 31, 1930 in Rig, West Virginia. He was a carpenter for 42 years before retirement, working in Northern Virginia, Maryland and Lake Anna. He did Volunteer work with Rural Love for fifteen years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hugh C. and Stella R.. Barr, one sister, Cleda Pratt.Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Anna May Barr; three daughters, Sallie Purvis and her husband Perry of Waverly, GA, Phyllis Hustead and her husband Kenneth of Mineral, and Ellen Knighton and her husband Ronald of Bumpass, VA; grandchildren, Roxanna Karwacki (Jim), Jessica Gibson (Allen) of Waverly, GA, Brian Seay of Louisa, VA, Adam Seay of Mineral, Kevin Knighton and Andrew Knighton of Bumpass; one great-grandson, Sean Purvis, three great-granddaughters, and two step-great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Loring Barr (Mary Catherine) a sister, Priscilla Evans (Herbert) all of Rig, WV; several nieces, and nephews.The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 5, 2015 from noon until 2pm at Woodward Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral, VA; officiated by Rev. Terry Green.
