John Thomas Pleasants, Jr., 84, of Fredericks Hall, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008. Mr. Pleasants was born April 17, 1923 in Dabneys, to John Thomas Pleasants and Merle Moss Pleasants.
Mr. Pleasants served his country during World War II in the United States Marine Corps. He was a retired rural mail carrier with forty years of service. He was a member of St. James Episcopal church in Louisa. He was a Past Master and Past District Deputy Grand Master of the Mary Lodge # 175 in Fredericks Hall, where he served for over 50 years.
Mr. Pleasants is survived by his sons, Bradley T. Pleasants, Sr. and wife Nancy of Louisa, Gregory B. Pleasants and wife Jackie of Louisa, his daughter, Pamela Pleasants Taylor and husband T.C. of Holly Grove, five grandchildren, Bradley T. Pleasants, Jr. and wife Susan, Michael G. Pleasants and wife Kerrie, Jeffrey T. Pleasants, T. Cole Taylor and Jennifer B. Pleasants, four great-grandchildren, B. Tucker Pleasants III, J. Travis Pleasants, Maddox M. Pleasants, Bennett L. Pleasants, and a brother, Edward A. Pleasants and wife Sylvia of Louisa.
Mr. Pleasants was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Iris Southard Pleasants, and a brother, James W. Pleasants.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2008 at St. James Episcopal Church Parish Hall. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at St. James Episcopal Church with the Reverend Ann B. Davis officiating.
