BAILEY, John Macon, Jr., age 91, of Louisa, passed away Friday, July 19, 2007. Born September 13, 1915 in Louisa, VA, to John Macon and Etta Bailey, he moved to Louisa County at an early age and lived there the rest of his life. He served as a Rifleman in the U.S. Army infantry in Central Europe from 1944 until 1946 when he was honorably discharged. After his father?s death in 1954, he assumed the ownership and operation of Bailey?s Drug Store in the town of Louisa until his retirement in 1997. He is survived by his loving wife, Esther; his son, John M. Bailey, III and his wife, Elizabeth of Dinwiddie County, VA; three grandchildren, Todd Bailey of Piney Flats, TN, Jill Alford of Pensacola, FL, and Molly Hayman of Montreal, Canada; three great-grandchildren, Savannah Bailey, and Eric and Ashley Alford; and a devoted family friend, Fay White of Louisa. The family will greet friends at the Woodward Funeral Home, 200 Fredericksburg Ave., in Louisa on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 2 pm followed by a memorial service at 3:30 pm. A private interment service will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Louisa Baptist Church, P.O. Box 552, Louisa, VA 23093.
