Joan Marie Wiese, 73, of Louisa, VA, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, July 3, 2010 after a long struggle with cancer. She worked for many years as a legal secretary and paralegal and owned dog breeding and real estate businesses at various times. In 2000, she and her husband bought property in Louisa County, VA and built their retirement dream home. She enjoyed gardening, canning, cooking, and could never resist a good deal at a yard sale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
As former teacher and friend of Joan and LeRoy`s boys, I can say that this lady was an outstanding mother, which is obvious to anyone who has encountered her three fine, successful sons. In addition, I shall never forget Joan`s candor and, to be sure, the amazing lasagna she sent to the high school when the boys stayed through between set construction and rehearsal! The world is a better place because of her, and heaven is surely more heavenly.

My deepest sympathy to LeRoy and his boys. I knew Joan to be a highly intellegent lady completely devoted to her family. She and LeRoy traveled a long road together and no doubt built many happy memories together. Congratulations to Joan and LeRoy for the fine job they did raising their sons. They all turned out to be fine citizens and are a testimony to the effort that Joan and LeRoy put into their upbringing.Bill Reidel
Jay and Family: We are sorry to hear about your Mom. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.Robbyn and Bob Dewar
To LeRoy, Jeff, Jay, Kevin and their Families,We I send our deepest sympathy to you at this time. Joan was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. She was so down to earth and honest. I KNOW she was a good wife and mother. She obviously worked hard all her life to make a good home and take care of the people she loved. She was also a o-frills” person and didn`t clobber you with her many accomplishments in life but gradually let herself be known in casual conversation. We felt honored to share Thanksgiving dinner with Joan LeRoy and Jeff over the last couple of years. She said it was her favorite holiday. We also enjoyed looking over her newest yardsale acquisitions. She has a good eye for a bargain. She also shared her quiet passion for gardening with us.Joan was a real fighter too in her battle with cancer. She had such determination to keep on living!Joan was very special and we are glad to have known her.Sharon and Larry Thomas”
