James Ernest Nester, Sr., 76 of Mineral passed away on Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at his residence. He was born in Wythe County on January 18, 1931; he served his country in the U.S. Army and was a carpenter by trade.
Mr. Nester is survived by his wife, Annie Marie Nester; four sons, James E. “Jimmy” Nester, Jr., Toney R. Nester and his wife Cathy, Donny L. Nester and his wife Debbie, and Edward D. Nester and his wife Candy; a daughter Brenda M. Dodson and her husband Ricky; a sister Mary Leistra, a brother Joseph Nester, twelve grandchildren; Jennifer Nester Dove, Brandy Nester, A J Nester, Wyatt Nester, Drake Nester, Tommy and Stevie Sheffer, Nicole Smith, Tee Quick, Jennifer Johnson, Shawn Blankenship and Brandy Holderman; and nine great grandchildren; Kayla and Carson Dove, Amaya and Trey Johnson, Kensley, Riely and Braeden Smith, Sadie and Chasity Holderman.
Mr. Nester was predeceased by his parents Lawrence and Grace Nester, a brother Claude Nester and a sister June Leistra.
A Funeral service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, January 12th at Woodward Funeral Home , Louisa, Va. with the Rev. Hubert Hart officiating, burial will follow in Spring Grove Cemetery, Mineral serving as pallbearers are Drake Nester, Ricky Dodson, Jeremy Dove, Tommy Jenkins, Glenn Smith, Tommy Nester and Gary Nester.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm on Friday, January 11th at Woodward Funeral Home.

Aunt Possie & all the family,We are so sorry for the loss and pain you are going through. We know you all loved Uncle Jimmy very much and hated to see him suffer. I thank God that his suffering has ended and that it did not last any longer than it did.
