Hilda D Miller, 71, of Louisa, died Saturday, November 3, 2012 at her home after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her son, Robert Channing Powell of Louisa; two brothers, James (Dorothy) Duerson of Mineral and David (Betty Jane) Duerson of Louisa; a sister, Ann (Mercer) Grant of Kinston, North Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Miller, and her parents, Virgil and Cassie Duerson. She was born November 30, 1940 and resided in Louisa County all her life. Mrs. Miller was publisher emeritus of the The Central Virginian newspaper when she retired in the late 1990’s. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home. A service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 6 at Elk Creek Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Elk Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the M.S. Society, Central Virginia Chapter, P.O. Box 27326, Louisa, Virginia, 23261-7326.

I met Hilda when I worked for the Louisa Building Inspector`s office and she covered local government news for the CV. Always smiling, always nice, always fair reporter.
