Helen Miller Sharpe

August 7, 1926 – December 27, 2022

Helen Miller Sharpe went to be with the Lord after living 96 years as his faithful servant. Helen was born and raised in Laurel Virginia until she married and moved to Cuckoo Virginia where she lived for over 60 years. Soon after the death of her husband Ronald, she moved to Lakewood in Henrico, her residence at the time of her death. In a life surrounded by caring family and cousins, deep and supportive friendships and a close knit, wide-reaching community, Helen’s presence touched everyone around her. From several generations of children jockeying to sit next to her in her church pew or a recuperating neighbor enjoying a pot of her homemade vegetable soup, she let people know she cared and loved them. And they cared and loved her in return. Her hummingbird cake was legendary. She managed to keep the good food coming while working at Federal Reserve Bank and raising three children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice N. Miller and Lewis J. Miller, husband, Ronald E. Sharpe, Sr., and granddaughter, Caroline S. Eastvold. She is survived by her children, Ronald E. Sharpe, Jr. (Jayne), Charles L. Sharpe (Marsha) and Robin S. Schroeder (John). Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 5 great- grandchildren. Her family is so very grateful for her many Lakewood caregivers, Gilboa Church members, supportive friends and a special thank you to Dr. Rex Harkrader and family for their many years of compassionate care and kindness. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Gilboa Christian Church, 6780 Jefferson Hwy. Mineral, VA, 23117. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery
