Gregory Martin Lewis
Oct 2, 1959- Jan 23, 2020
Gregory Martin Lewis, 60, of Mineral (formerly of Centreville, Va.) died peacefully from a short illness on Thursday, January 23, 2020, at the University of Virginia Hospital. He was born October 2, 1959, to Shirley W. Lewis and Jerry Q. Lewis. He is preceded in death by his father Jerry Q. Lewis, and stepfather Charles E. Barnes. He is survived by his wife, Linda of six years; mother Shirley W. Lewis; his sister Terri Lynne Anzengruber (Brad) of Lovettsville, Va.; brothers Steve Lewis of Culpeper, Va., Jeffrey (Michelle) Lewis of Ashburn, Va., Darryl (Denise) Lewis of Pickerington, Ohio; sister-in-law, Laura (Stan) Butler of Purcellville, Va. Greg is also survived by a stepson, Christopher Pitzen (Jenny) and 2 step grandsons, Otto and Ellis. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, all of whom he loved as well.
Greg was a military veteran, having served in the Navy from 1982 to 1988. After leaving the Navy, he became a skilled carpenter by trade and worked in that field until his death. His talent and commitment to detail in his work was exceptional. He was a member of the VFW in Falls Church, Va. and volunteered for a short period as Quartermaster there. He was also an active member of the Centreville Moose Lodge and had become fast friends with the Louisa Moose Lodge members upon recently moving to Lake Anna, Va.
Greg’s wife, Linda, was the love of his life. They met in 1996 and, through a series of life events, had recently found their way back to each other in 2013. They were married on February 15, 2014. They made a home in Centreville, Va. before moving to Lake Anna in September 2018.
Greg was a remarkable family man and his love for family was evident by the way he stepped up as husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, stepfather and friend. Family was priority with Greg and he lived life proving that every day. He was fun-loving, funny and had an incredible ability to make you laugh. You always knew when Greg was in the room. His humor, his love for life, and his willingness to drop everything for his family makes him truly unforgettable. Greg will be missed beyond words but will be loved in our hearts forever.
The Family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm Saturday February 1, 2020 at Woodward funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday February 1, 2020 at Woodward funeral home. Graveside service will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery 2779 Pendleton road, Mineral Va 23117

To my friend my funny guy my fireball hellion my sensitive guy to a try to be a serious guy. Greg and Linda are very good friends of Bryan and I. We weren’t only friends but family almost like another set of folks but no strings attached. Greg was always good to me and a BF or father figure. Always asked hey girl get over here let’s talk as he ordered a fireball. He loved it when they moved to lake anna. Hey jenny when we partying with your folks.
