Gloria Jean Benton Baker

September 28, 1943 – November 6, 2023

Gloria Jean Benton Baker, 80, of Louisa, Virginia passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023, at English Meadows in Crozet. She was born in North Carolina on September 28, 1943, the daughter of the late Lucian and Maude Benton. In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wesley E. Baker, Jr. She was a longtime resident in Newport News, Virginia and later resided in Louisa for many years.

Gloria was a woman of faith, grace, and dignity. If a friend or a laughing companion is what you needed, she was that sweet lady. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, auntie, and dear friend. Gloria loved her family, friends, church, flowers, making and decorating cakes, arts and crafts and nature. She enjoyed volunteering at her church and spending time with her family. She leaves behind a legacy of being compassionate, supportive, fun, gracious and inspirational.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memory her son, Gregory Baker, and wife Gina; three sisters, Patricia Benton Wilson, widow of the late Earl Wilson Sr., Shirley Benton Smith and her husband Rev. Kenneth W. Sr., and Virginia Benton Thayer and her husband, Jerry W.; along with numerous special nieces and nephews; and many close friends. The family would like to thank English Meadows and staff for their care, along with her personal caregivers.

Her life was a blessing, her memories are a treasure to us all.

A service of celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023 at 11:00 am, at Macedonia Global Methodist Church, 17 Byrd Mill Road, Louisa, Virginia.
