Gladys Virginia Martin, 86, of Louisa, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, April 26, 2009. Gladys retired from Louisa Manufacturing Company after 28 years as a supervisor. She was an avid reader, loved flowers, friends and most of all, her family.
Gladys is preceded in death by her parents, Elic and Christine Fincham, her first husband Joseph Jim” Martin who was a casualty of WW II while in France her second husband Willard Franklin Martin a daughter by her first marriage Joyce Wilbur a grandson and 12 siblings.
Gladys is survived by her children Willard Franklin Martin Jr. of Culpeper Peggy M. Finley and husband Gerald of Ashland David O. Martin and wife Faye of Louisa Nelson K. Martin and wife Brenda of Bumpass; 15 grandchildren 13 great-grandchildren 2 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday April 28 2009 at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday April 29 2009 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa with Rev. Robert L. Haley officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Richard Rogers James Wilson Mark Smith Jr. Travis Troy and Josh Martin.
