Geraldine E. Carter

February 24, 1930 – December 8, 2021

On Wednesday, December 8, 2021, Geraldine Elizabeth Carter, 91, passed away in her home in Louisa County, Virginia. She was born on February 24, 1930 in Washington, D.C. Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband, Frank R. Lee Carter of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, son of the late Tasker and Elizabeth Carter of Bumpass, her father, Grant Lumpkin of White Plains, New York, and mother, Mildred Mack of Washington, D.C. She was also preceded in death by children, Reginald, Thomas, and Allen of Louisa; brothers, Ernest Mack (Susan), Clydell Mack, Anthony Mack, Robert Mack; and sisters Anne Mack and Pearl Butler, all of Washington, D.C. She was known for her caring demeanor, sweet personality and her contagious smile. Mrs. Carter was affiliated with the Ministry work by Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was a devoted mother; a devoted grandmother and she dedicated her skills working for Vepco/Virginia Power as a security guard. Geraldine was also a dedicated caregiver at the King adult home. Mrs. Carter was the first of eight children. She is survived by her sons: Francis, Jesse, Joseph (Thelma), and Lloyd; daughters, Patricia, Brenda, and Mildred, all of Louisa. Mrs. Carter was exceptionally loved by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Cuffey (Elbert) of Bowie, Maryland and hosts of nieces, nephews, and long-time friends in the community. Geraldine leaves many to cherish her memory. She was well loved and will be missed. May our Loving Creator remember our Beloved and Devoted Mother. “Do not be amazed at this for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tomb will hear his voice and come out.” (John 5:28) A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, January 22, 2022, at 1:30 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home located at 200 Fredericksburg Avenue Louisa, VA 23093 (540) 967-0085).
