Fred Richard Seay, 88 of Mineral, passed away on May 13, 2011 at Louisa Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Seay was born on June 29, 1922 to the late James Early and Tammie Poore Seay.
He was married to the late Mary Jane Johnson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Howard and Harold Seay and sister, Phyllis Stanley.
Fred leaves behind to cherish his memory his children, Gloria Nelson and husband Tommy, Robbie Britt and husband Bobby and Rick Seay and wife Sandy; six grandchildren, Tim Nelson and wife Heather, Tiffany Nelson, Matt Britt, Kendall Britt, Luke Seay and Elyza Seay; and four great grandchildren, Jared Nelson, Tori Finn, Dillon Nelson and Ethan Nelson; his brothers Aubrey, Romulus and Douglas Seay and sister Ruby Bell; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He was with the U.S. Army 31st Infantry Division, 149 Field Artillery 1 Co. B during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and Mineral Fire Department. Fred was retired after a long career with the C&O Railroad as a heavy equipment operator. He was a long time member of Mineral Baptist Church and served on many committees.
The family will receive friends at Mineral Baptist Church on Sunday, May 15, 2011 from 6-8 pm. Funeral services will be held at Mineral Baptist Church on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 3 pm with interment to follow in the church’s cemetery.
