Franklin Wayne Groome, Sr.
May 16, 1948 – January 2, 2022
Franklin Wayne (“Dickie”) Groome Sr., of Mineral, departed this life on January 2, 2022 at home in the company of his family. Born May 16, 1948, he was the son of Bob and Eva Groome (both deceased) and brother to Tom (deceased), Ray (deceased), Ruby, Janice (deceased), Ann, Bucky, Nolan (deceased), Elsie, Lois, Mike and Rodney (deceased). Husband to Marie; Dad to Ernie and Linda Buckler, Wayne and Teresa Groome, and Lisa and Robbie Sprouse; Grandfather to Adam and Brittany Groome, Jeffrey and Kayla Buckler, Justin and Amber Groome, Christian Buckler, Zachary, Dallas and Pearson Sprouse; Great-Grandfather to Gracie, Avery, Ashten, Beau, Scarlett, and Maverick.
Dickie’s family extended well beyond blood relations. He was a surrogate brother, father and grandfather to so many. He was the life of the party in his youth, and even after his body slowed a bit, he took great joy from watching others enjoy themselves. He was our patriarch – the reason we celebrated long, hard and often. He had a generous nature, accepting people as he found them. He was a good friend, willing to loan/give you whatever you might need if he had it, or help you fix just about anything.
Generous. Loyal. Trustworthy. He will be missed beyond measure.
The family will receive visitors at Woodward Funeral Home on Friday, January 14, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. Service will start at 12 p.m. Interment will take place at a family plot behind his residence. The family will receive visitors at the Louisa Moose Lodge following interment.
You will be missed we love you so much.
