Joyce Thacker, 66, of Kent?s Store passed away Sunday, December 2, 2007 at her home. Joyce was born November 26, 1941 in Louisa County to John Douglas Mahanes and Fronie Dunivan Mahanes.

Joyce was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Tapscott. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who dedicated her life to helping others.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, James C. Thacker, her sons, James Douglas Thacker and wife Anita of Kent?s Store, Donald Lewis Thacker and wife Cristy of Madison, her daughter Pamela Powell Patrick and husband Fred of Mineral, a sister, Shirley Green and husband Rollin of Varina, her grandchildren Patricia Vaughan, Jamie Thacker, Katherine Thacker, her great-grandchildren, BreAnna Thacker, Taylor Vaughan, Paul Thacker and numerous nieces and nephews.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Arlene Thacker and Louise Green and two brothers-in-law Ernest Thacker and Bob Green.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Woodward Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy Fox will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Ernest Thacker, Jr., Bruce Thacker, Charlie Thacker, David Green, Mike Green, and William Green.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Woodward Funeral Home, 200 Fredericksburg Ave., Louisa.
