Emma McGehee

Emma Frances McGehee, 92, of Louisa passed away peacefully June 19, 2011.

She was born November 29, 1918 in Louisa County, to the late Maude Duke and Robert Nathaniel McGehee.

Emma was a member of Louisa Baptist Church since an early age. She taught Sunday School in the Junior Department for over twenty years. She received her education in the Louisa County School System, graduating with the class of 1936. Emma and Daisy Shank were instrumental in beginning the first Girl Scout Brownie Troop in Louisa County, and served as Leaders. She was employed by LaVogue Stores in Louisa, and retired after thirty years of devoted service.

Emma is survived by her loving daughter, Barbara Ditchkus Duff and her husband Douglas, her cherished grandson Stephen Duff, her stepdaughter Pamela Hoss, Lt. Commander, Ret., and her husband William Hoss, Lt. Commander, Ret., and their children; her brother-in-law Vincent Ditchkus and his wife Kathy, and her cousins; Millicent Barrett, and Bonnie Shank Shelton and her husband Gene. Emma also leaves to cherish her memory her devoted friends, Joan McIlhenny, her husband Daniel O’Donnell, and their children, Alan, Philip, Hannah, and Helen.

The family will receive friends and visitors for a Celebration of Life service at Noon on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Louisa Baptist Church, with a reception to follow in the church fellowship hall. Interment will be private
