Edward Douglas Seay, 76, of Mineral, Virginia passed away at his residence on Saturday, March 28, 2015. A lifelong resident of Louisa, he was the son of the late James and Tommie Seay. He was a devoted husband and father and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a lifelong member of Louisa Christian Church, and a former volunteer with Mineral Fire & Rescue. Doug loved playing baseball in his younger years and was lifelong NY Yankee’s fan. Doug enjoyed hunting and was a member of the Fire Trail Hunt Club for many years. He also enjoyed bluegrass music and hosted a “Friday Night Bluegrass Jam” in his home for over twenty years and considered all the pickers part of his family.He was a cabinet maker his entire life, he worked in the family furniture business before starting his own furniture business, Doug’s Furniture and Antiques, Pendelton, VA.In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis Seay, his brothers, Howard, Harold and Fred Seay and his sister, Phyllis Stanley.He is survived by, his son, David Durrette of Glen Allen, VA, his daughters, Kathy Brown (Harry) of Montpelier, Susan Seay (Rick) of Mineral, his brothers, Romulus Seay (Dot) of Bumpass and Aubrey Seay (Verlee) of Mineral, his sister Ruby Bell of Louisa; grandchildren, Adam Douglas Brooks, Kelly Brooks, Brandy Maxton and Brittany Maxton, great-grandchildren, Bradley, Bryson and Brielle.The family will receive friends from 5-8pm on Tuesday, March 31 at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, VA. A funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Denny Burnette at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Louisa Christian Church with interment to follow in Hillcrest Cemetery.In lieu of flowers memorial donation may be made to Louisa Christian Church, P.O. It was a true pleasure to have known him. He will truly be remembered and missed by all that knew him. Anyone that knew him was a better person for it.
Doug always made me feel welcome in his home. He will be missed by all that knew him.
I have known Doug for several years and just found out about his passing. My deepest sympathy to his children and our prayers are with them at this time. He will be missed. Didn`t hear the news until after 6pm …. too late to cancel drs apt tomorrow .

Our sympathies to the Seay Family,Doug was a wonderful man and very gracious gentle soul. He enjoyed life and had so much expertise on the present and past furniture history. We always enjoyed our visits together. He will be missed. Our prayers are with you.
So sorry to hear about Mr. Seay. Having only met him a couple of times, he and his wife were wonderful and gracious people. The songs and sounds of bluegrass that echoed from their living room was incredible. Our prayers and heartfelt condolences to Kathy, Kelly, Harry and the whole family.
