Edward Eugene Baker, 82, of Louisa died Tuesday May 31, 2011 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville.
Mr. Baker was an Army and Navy Veteran, and had been a Microbiologist with Merck & Co. Inc in New Jersey prior to his retirement. He was a Member of Macedonia United Methodist Church where he had served as a Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the Americus Masonic Lodge in Woodbridge NJ, where he was a past Master.
Edward is survived by his wife, Kathleen Baker; his sons, James Clark Baker and his wife Theresa of Washington NJ, Robert Eugene Baker and his wife Joanne of Monroe NY, Charles Alvin Baker and his wife Renee of Goochland, his daughters Felicia Lenore Goudie and her husband Brian of Louisa, and April Jane Martorano and her husband Albert of Ringwood NJ, eight grandchildren Joseph, Emily, Christopher, Andy, Marlene, and Edward Baker, Katherine and Kevin Martorano. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles D. Baker and his wife Doris of Longview TX, and James A. Baker of Robolo LA, and his sister Sophia Jean Lenderman of Whitehouse TX.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Clark Baker of Houston TX.
The family will receive friends on Friday June 3, from 6pm to 8pm at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa. A funeral service will be held on Saturday June 4 at 10am at Macedonia United Methodist Church with the Rev. Linda E.F. Crabbs officiating. Interment to follow in church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edward?s name to Macedonia UMC Building Fund, c/o Faye Stewart, 17 Byrd Mill Road Louisa VA 23093.
Miss you daddy
Bake was my first cousin and I think that he was one of the most enjoyable people to be around that I know. We had a good time all of our lives when we were together. He was loved by all of his family.

My son, Dan was a good friend of Charlie Baker before they moved to Virginia, and I knew his mom and dad well. I recall them all fondly and offer prayers and send my warmest condolences to all.
Ed introduced me to how great Texas and the people from there were. especially grandpa`s I`ll bet.One key contribution, he isolated the most stable microbial isolate for the production of Avermectin analog in Heartguard. My condolences to Kathy and the entire family. Dick
