Dorothy Hester Luck, 87, of Mineral died Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Lake Anna Elder Care in Spotsylvania County. She was born November 28, 1932 to the late James Russell and Agnes Thomas Hester Sr. and was a lifelong Mineral resident. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Cecil Luck; and her brother, James Russell Hester Jr. She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Irene) Luck and Jeffrey (Jackie) Luck; two grandsons, Timothy (Samantha) Luck and John Luck; two greatgranddaughters, Chassy Groome and Piper Luck, all of Mineral; two sisters, Ann Markey (James) of Rockville, and Sarah Jane Hester, formerly of Mineral and now of Rockville; a brother, Lewis “Sammy” Hester (Patsy) of Montpelier; several nieces; nephews; and several great nieces and nephews. Dorothy retired from Louisa Manufacturing as a bookkeeper. She was a lifelong member of Mineral Baptist Church. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Minmurwada Chapter 56 of Louisa where she served as Worthy Matron and later Fork Union Chapter 111. She was also a longtime supporter of Louisa Little League baseball. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 16 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Mineral Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, January 17 at Mineral Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. A reception will follow in the church’s Family Life Center. My thoughts and prayers are with you in the loss of Miss Dot. It was a pleasure caring for her in our home. She was so happy and grateful for all of our care She raised such a wonderful family that followed in her footsteps. We will be forever honored to have cared for her in our home during her latter years with sickness. Heaven has another Angel watching over all.
