Dorothy “Dot” Fisher Payne

Dorothy “Dot” Fisher Payne died Sunday, April 22, 2018 at University of Virginia Transitional Care Hospital.

Mrs. Payne was an educator for 32 years and taught in Louisa and Spotsylvania Counties. She was a lifelong member of the Mineral United Methodist Church and played the organ at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church for many years. The mission of her life was loving children and Camp Rainbow Connection, a camp for adult mentally challenged persons, God’s special children. She had been a staff member since 1988.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Roy Lee Payne of Mineral; daughter Suzanne P. Brackett and her husband, John R. Brackett; grandson Michael Anderson Brackett; granddaughter Ashlee Marie Brackett of Rocky Mount, NC; two sisters, Joy Burroughs and husband Danny of Elliston and Nancy Boles of Christiansburg; one brother, Edward Fisher and wife, Geri of Doswell; and a number of nieces and nephews. She was the daughter of the late Hector and Susie Fisher of Mineral.

The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 29 at Woodward Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 30 at Mineral United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mineral United Methodist Church Music Fund.
