Dorothy Ann Burcher Reynolds

October 11, 1932 – April 28, 2023

Dorothy Ann Burcher Reynolds, 90, transitioned to her heavenly home on Friday, April 28, 2023 from natural causes.

“Dottie” was born October 11, 1932, in Newport News, Virginia, the youngest and only daughter to Ernest Stafford Burcher and Nettie Louise Owens Burcher. She graduated in 1950 from Morrison High School in Newport News, Va. In March 1952, Dottie married Glenn Caperton Reynolds, Jr. She and Glenn originally resided in Roanoke, Virginia where Glenn started his professional golf career. Eventually Glenn’s career took them to Keswick, Virginia where they lived until the mid-1980’s.

Dottie was an accomplished businesswoman and excelled in all things she pursued. She was a Sarah Coventry top sales producer, accomplished real estate agent, and later managed her own successful real estate brokerage company. She owned a thriving catering business, where she helped many couples celebrate their wedding ceremonies. She finished her business career as the club manager at The Water’s Edge Golf Club in Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia. From there she and Glenn retired to Louisa, Virginia.

Dottie’s dedication to Glenn’s golf career afforded her the opportunity to become a very competitive golf opponent. This competitive streak won her many a round of golf, bridge or multiple other card games. She continuously rallied the kids and grandkids to attempt her defeat. The annual Cousins’ Camp (orchestrated by Dottie and her niece, also named Dottie), is still talked about every time the grandkids have a chance to get together.

Dottie loved her family and God above all things. She developed many loving friendships while a member of Louisa Christian Church. She was an active member of the choir and served on the board as treasurer. The blessings of love and friendship Dottie and Glenn received from their church family was a cornerstone of their life in Louisa.

Dottie was predeceased by her loving husband, Glenn, in 2010, after more than 57 years together. Her infant son, Eric, “Ricky” Stafford Reynolds, predeceased her in 1954 at the age of 7 months. Her brother, Cecil “Bubba” Burcher, also predeceased her.

Dottie is survived by her son, Timothy Owens Reynolds and his wife, Vickie Linkous Reynolds of Gloucester Point, Va; her son, David Owens Reynolds and his wife, Bonnie Wade Reynolds of Gordonsville, Va; her “adopted son,” Robert Bowers, and his ex-wife, Linda Bowers of Mount Crawford, Va; and former daughter-in-law, Cathy Ferguson, and her husband, Steve. Her brother-in-law, George Reynolds of Ivy, Va also survives her. Additionally, Dottie is survived by four grandchildren, Mindy Swickrath (John); Emily Sears (Shelby); Lindsay Walden (Brock); Phillip Reynolds (Kristen), and ten great grandchildren, Chloe and Brynn Swickrath; Josephine, Caroline and Wade Sears; Margaret, Clayton and Jacob Walden; Eleanore and Weston Reynolds.

Dottie also leaves to cherish her memory her oldest brother, Ernest Edward Burcher, Sr. of Yorktown, Va; as well as several nieces and nephews and their children.

The family would like to extend special thanks and gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Hamilton.

Funeral service will take place Saturday, May 6, 2023, at 2:00 at Woodward Funeral Home, 200 Fredericksburg Ave, Louisa, Va. Visitation with family will take place one hour before the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa, Va. Dr. Denny Burnette presiding.
