Doris Warren Perkins Meredith, 88, of Mineral, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on July 23, 2016. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Barret Meredith Jr.; her parents Delmar Dock Perkins Sr. and Blanche Nelson Perkins; as well as her brothers Charles Perkins, Cecil Perkins and Delmar Dock “Rufus” Perkins Jr. Doris leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Sue Meredith, of Mineral, Virginia; her son, Barry Meredith and his wife, Deana, also of Mineral; five grandchildren, Barret Meredith and his wife, Joanna, of Mineral, Kenny Meredith, of Louisa, Jenny Denny and her husband, Philip, of Henrico, Virginia, Kelly Meredith, of Mineral; and Amanda Gholson, of Bradenburg, Kentucky; five great-grandchildren Quin, Maggie, Brie and Scarlet Meredith of Mineral, and Judah Denny of Henrico.Also, her sisters, Marie Bickley of Beaverdam, Virginia, Margaret Chodosh and her husband, Lance, of Gainesville, Florida, her brothers, John Perkins and his wife, Hazel, of Louisa, Virginia, and Bernard Perkins and his wife, Clarice, of Louisa; and three sisters-in-law, Julia Perkins of Windsor, Virginia,Rose Stano of Pebble Creek, Florida, and Dottie Perkins of Palmyra,Virginia; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.Doris graduated from Louisa County High School and was a lifelong farmer and homemaker. Born on October 21, 1927, she was raised on a dairy farm in the Green Springs area of Louisa, Virginia. She later worked alongside her husband as an egg producer and raised kosher veal calves. Doris was a member of Fork Baptist Church, Bumpass, Virginia, and sang in the choir, taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School before her lengthy illness. She was a former member of the Women’s Missionary Union and is a past member of the Minmurwada Order of the Eastern Star #56.Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 28 at Woodward Funeral Home, Louisa, Virginia, with the Rev. Hubert Hart officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Louisa, Virginia, following the service. Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 27 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 1160 Pepsi Place, Suite 306, Charlottesville, VA 22901.

So sorry for your loss. Growing up we were together almost every week. Drive-in movies etc. in the old station. They were really the good ole days. May God Bless each of you. Keeping family in my prayers.

I was very sorry to hear about Doris` passing. She was always a good friend and she will be missed. My family and I have lots of good memories of Doris and Bill and we will be with the family in thought and prayer as you all move forward without her presence.
