Claudia was an inspiration to me as a young girl, I can remember seeing her at Elk Creek it is in my early memories. She and Louis were family and were constantly in our lives, I have so many wonderful memories of them both. As my father aged I spent more time with him and that allowed me to visit with them more often, that is now a treasue. It is never a good time to lose a loved one, but feel blessed to have had them in your life and know how loved you were by them.
Sincerely
Carolyn Harris Bivens
Randy and Brenda:
I recently read of Claudia’s death in the Central Virginia newspaper. After I moved back home in 2000 to Washington County, I thought about her and your father often. As a ‘young’ Extension Agent, your mother taught me so much and I’ve always considered her one of my mentors. From her, I learned many so ‘work’ lessons, and she also taught me a real love of genealogy and research! I often think of her with very fond memories. My Sincere condolences to your family. May God Bless you with his Peace and Love during this time.
Brenda, Randy & families,
I just want to express what an inspiration and influence your Mom was for me. I remember so many fun and lesson teaching moments in Girl Scouts with her and Katie Bowles as troop leaders. Every gathering gave me a new skill set or instigated a new interest. Whether it was tromping through the woods, crossing rivers (losing a sneaker in the process) or learning camping skills, we experienced many wonderful moments and created as many memories. We did this because your Mom gave her time, energy and talents to bunch of young people who may not have understood how lucky we were at the time. Please know our family is saddened by your loss. We hope your special memories will bring comfort and keep your Mom with you always. Much love, Robin Sharpe Schroeder & family
Brenda and family: So sorry for your loss. She was the quintessential “Southern Lady” and I always enjoyed her company. What a wonderful reunion she and your Dad are having and what peace! Thoughts and prayers are with you.
Randy and Brenda, I am so sorry for your loss. I will never forget how kind your mom was to everyone she met. Also how she allowed a black snake to live in her basement!
