Charles Rexford Norris
September 17, 1935- May 30, 2020
Charles Rexford Norris, 84, of Alexandria, VA passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020. Born in Wallace, NC, he was the son of the late Charlie Vann and Grace Norris. He was a retired Naval Architect and master of many building trades.
Charles was a dedicated husband to Polly Gray Bradshaw for 56 years until her death in 2014. He was a loving father, and grandfather who took every opportunity to brag about his children and grandchildren. He was an inspiration to many, building his home and furniture. In retirement he enjoyed helping people, providing valuable advice and solving issues with their homes. He had a gift for telling stories and sharing his wisdom with his children and their families. His favorite past times were being outdoors watching the wildlife, watching football on tv and he especially loved to fish with his bamboo pole from the dock of the family vacation home in Lake Anna, Virginia.
He is survived by his two children, Charles Gregory Norris and his, fiancé Jessica O’Mara; and Bonnie Gray Norris and husband William “Lee” Niemeyer; grandchildren Connor Norris, Rachel, Jason and Kyle Niemeyer; brother Arnold Norris of Rose Hill, NC; sister Anna Gail Smith of Southport, NC., and many loving extended family and friends.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa, VA at Noon. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the Governor of Virginias order 63, all in attendance will need to ware a face mask, and use social distancing.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Charles memory to the American Lung Association, American Heart Association, Habitat for Humanity, or a Charity of your choice.
