Charles Samuel Gammon

Sam Gammon, 58, of Louisa, passed away Sunday, October 21, 2007 at University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. Sam was born October 12, 1949 in Goochland to Richard Shelton Gammon and Mary Sharpe Gammon.

Sam was a carpenter and enjoyed all types of construction. He was most recently employed by the Louisa County Public Transportation Department as a school bus driver. Sam was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War.

Sam is survived by a son Richard S. Gammon and wife Chonna of Mineral, two daughters, LaCosta R. Gammon and fiance? Chris Jusick of Florida, Amanda S. Gammon and fiance? Derrell Coles of Louisa, five brothers, Willard Freeman and wife Minnie Mae of Louisa, Richard Freeman and wife Dorothy of Louisa, Bobby Gammon of Apple Grove, Lewis Gammon of Bumpass, Lee Gammon and wife Sharon of Bumpass, a sister Mildred Payton of Mineral, four grandchildren Michael Collier of Louisa, Richard Gammon, Jr. of Mineral, Jayden Coles of Louisa, Kaylee Jusick of Florida, and a step-grandchild Joshua Anderson of Stafford. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Mary Ann Freeman.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007 in the Woodward Funeral Home Chapel with Raymond F. Brooks conducting the service. Interment will follow at Hillcrest cemetery. Following the interment the family wishes to invite friends for a time of fellowship at the V.F.W. hall in Mineral.

A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at Woodward Funeral Home.
