Brenda D. Carter

On Tuesday, February 28, 2023, Brenda D. Carter, 69, passed away peacefully at the University of Virginia Hospital with family at her bedside. Born in Washington, DC on April 28,1953, she was the daughter of the late Frank Reginald Lee and Geraldine Carter.
Brenda was preceded in death by her brothers Reginald Carter, Thomas Carter, and Allen Carter. She was educated in the DC Public School System and was a proud mother of two children. Brenda was baptized at The Rising Sun Baptist Church in October 2009 by Reverend Fred Sales. Brenda was humble, genuine, kind, and compassionate. She loved to socialize and was well-known and well-loved by everyone in the community. She cared deeply about her family, cherished her friendships, and enjoyed being around children. She loved caring for her plants and playing games on her Grandpad.
Left to cherish loving memories of Brenda Carter are her son, Rothus (Ricky) Isaac Henderson, III and her daughter, Dominique McLaughlin; her devoted son-in-law, Shawn Shelton; her brothers, Francis Carter, Jesse Carter, Lloyd Carter, and Joseph Carter; her sisters Patricia Whiters and Mildred Carter. In addition to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and long-time friends.
A celebration of life will be held at Woodward Funeral Home located at 200 Fredericksburg Avenue, Louisa, VA on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 2pm. Services will be officiated by Reverend Fred Sales. Flower arrangements or plants can be sent directly to Woodward Funeral Home (540) 967- 0085.
