Blucher Wellington Tutwiler Reidelbach

July 4, 1939 – May 5, 2021

Blucher Wellington Tutwiler Reidelbach peacefully departed his family and friends on May 5th, 2021 at the age of 81.

He was a lifelong member of Louisa County and served three years in the U.S. Air Force as a crew chief on the B-52 bomber and in Vietnam. Blucher was a “larger-than-life” person. He grew up in Buckner, Virginia helping his father run a large dairy farm. He was an active member of Immaculate Conception Church and played both piano and organ there for many years. He served several terms on the Immaculate Conception Parish Council as Chairman of the Building and Grounds Committee.

Blucher’s talents were many. He was an avid guitar player, pianist, and organist who played a host of musical instruments. One of those instruments, his voice, he freely shared in the Immaculate Conception Church Choir. He was great in many sports and earned 2 hole-in-ones playing golf. It was difficult, if not impossible, to beat him in shooting clay targets or birds, horseshoes, and joke telling. He had many sayings which a friend called “Blucherisms”.

Blucher was dedicated to his family and relished his time with his beloved wife, Faye, of 53 years as well as his children; Mark Wellington Reidelbach, Melody Anne Reidelbach Bierman, Kelly Brooke Reidelbach, (deceased,1994), and Sterling Manson Reidelbach, (deceased, 2015). Dear to his heart were the times that he spent with Calvin Gammon, who was like a son to him, and during his latter days, Keisha Lewis, caretaker and friend. Blucher often expressed heartfelt appreciation for all of the care and love given by a number of other caretakers, longtime friends, neighbors, and associates. Blucher was preceded in death by his parents Leo and Jennie Reidelbach; and brother Lionel Reidelbach. Along with his devoted wife, Faye he is survived by one sister Barbara R. Crisp; and quivers of four greatly beloved grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.

A funeral Mass will be held on Saturday May 29, 2021 at 11a.m. to celebrate Blucher’s life. Following Mass, there will be a reception at the home of Ron and Deborah Self 914 Fredericks Hall Road Bumpass, VA. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Heartland Hospice 183 Spotnap Road, Suite B, Charlottesville VA, 22911.
