Bernard ?Elmer? Keene
Bernard ?Elmer? Keene, 66, of Mineral passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville. Elmer was born February 26, 1941, in Richlands to Bascomb Keene and Ella Clifton Keene.
Elmer enjoyed construction and was a carpenter all of his life. He was an avid gardener and loved riding his tractor.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Davene ?Twigie? Keene, his sons, Steven Keene and wife Kaye of Ohio, Paul Keene of Indiana, E.J. Keene of Mineral, his daughters, Janet Keene of Florida, Carol Grau and husband Chris of Ohio, Sandy West of Ohio, his brothers, Robert Keene of Florida, Clayton Keene and wife Pat of Florida, his sisters, Lillian Gilson and husband Tom of Florida, Wanda Perry and husband Rick of Florida, Edith Brown of Florida, Judy Womach and husband Jerry of Tennessee, Shirley Bishoff and husband Fred of Ohio, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Kyle Keene, Jr., and uncle, Dallas Short.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa. The Rev. Jerry Womach will conduct the service. Burial will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Mineral. Serving as pallbearers are John Ropp, Henry Hense, Robert C. Smith, Thomas Barney, Michael Ropp, David Ropp, and Larry Ropp.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2007 at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa.
