Alice Hutt Shumake, 53, of Mineral, passed away Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at UVA Medical Center in Charlottesville, after a brief illness. Alice was born June 2, 1954 in Marietta, Ohio.
Alice is survived by her husband, Mark W. Shumake, as well as many loving and caring family members and friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 11, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Woodward Funeral Home, 200 Fredericksburg Ave., Louisa, VA 23093. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 12, 2008 at Woodward Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard Clore will be officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Louisa.

I am so sorry for your loss. Alice and I attended nursing school @JSRCC grad. 1988-89. I lost track of her after graduation and often wondered how she was. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
We will never forget you Alice, you made our feet beautiful for our 1sttrip to St. Croix…lol and will always remember your smile. Now you can work your magic in heaven.In our prayers..

We never had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Alice but we are so impressed with the way she lived her short life. We are especially fond of nurses our son, Charlie, helped care for her at UVAand know that she must have been an awesome nurse. I was lucky to have known Alice. She was a great gal and a wonderful friend. It was such a shock to hear that she had passed on. I will ALWAYS remember her fondly. My most sincere condolences to her family
