Alan Parker Main, 52, of Louisa, passed away peacefully at his residence Sunday, January 24, 2010. Alan was born February 27, 1957 in Lynchburg, VA to John Edward Main and the late Shirley O’Brien Main. He graduated from E. C. Glass High School and earned a Masters Degree in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia. Alan was employed by Dominion Virginia Power as a Nuclear Engineer for over 25 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 14 years Melanie Schueler Main, his two sons Alexander Nelson Main and Joshua Edward Main all of Louisa, his father, John Edward Main and wife Connie, his brother, Douglas Avard Main and wife Holly and niece Elizabeth all of Lynchburg, his two step brothers, Dave Hogan and wife Laura and Terry Hogan and wife Allison, his mother-in-law, Ethel Louise Schueler, his sister-in-law, Susan Carol Schueler, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 27, 2010 at Woodward Funeral Home in Louisa, with a celebration of Alan’s life beginning at 8:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2010 at Byrd Chapel United Methodist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Alan’s name may be made to your local rescue squad organization.

I am Danny Elder`s sister. I am so sorry for your lose. It is so hard to bare but I hope you can find healing in time. Just always count on the comfort of your loving family to be there by your side during this time. I bet Alan and Danny are enjoying each others company and doing some deep sea fishing in heaven together. Some day we will all be able to be with each other again in heaven. Sorry and shocked to hear the news on Alan.We went through school together and were in band. Alan was smart with a subtle sense of humor. I always laugh when I recall a girl in the band who didn`t know his name and called him Doug Main`s brother.””

We were upset to hear of Alan`s passing. We always enjoyed his visits to the store when he made his trips to Lynchburg. Doug would have lunch with Alan on those trips, it was nice to see two brothers still enjoying each others company through the years! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time.
